Joel Petersen

Board Member

Joel has called Kirkland home for over a decade and loves everything about it—from walking downtown with his wife, Tera, to enjoying great meals and negronis at their favorite local spots. Together, they co-founded Sound Legacy Wealth Advisors, where Joel draws on a long career in financial services and tech, including leadership roles in strategic wealth and financial planning, operations, marketing, and executive management. He’s also deeply committed to community service, having served on the boards of Bellevue Arts Museum, Gilda’s Club (now Cancer Pathways), Western Washington University, Cornish College of the Arts, and Rotary—often as board president. Outside of work, Joel enjoys working out at F45, skiing across the U.S. and Canada, catching summer concerts at Marina Park and Chateau Ste. Michelle, and making time for frequent international adventures.

Kirkland Community Foundation has long served as the hub for successful projects inititated by members of our community, including the Save Our Salmon mural and the Waverly Beach Picnic Shelter. Have an idea for a project? Please complete this form as an initial step in the process, and we'll be in touch!
