With compassion and creativity, the Amazon donation is helping the Kirkland Temporary Parking Pilot change lives.” — Carmin Dalziel
Kirkland Community Foundation is grateful to have facilitated a generous donation from Amazon that is already making a big difference in our community. This support helped launch the City of Kirkland’s Temporary Parking Pilot Program. The program was designed to provide safe, designated parking for households living in RVs while they work toward stable housing.
In late 2024, the City of Kirkland—with support from Amazon and other partners—committed to ending overnight RV parking on NE 126th Place and 128th Lane NE. Instead of simply displacing residents, the City partnered with local organizations to create a compassionate solution. They wanted to create temporary parking sites equipped with hygiene facilities, garbage collection, electricity, and case management support.
Thanks to this collaboration, six households were successfully moved from unsafe street parking into safe, designated sites. As of June 30, 2025:
One household is now living in permanent housing.
Three households are actively working toward housing goals.
Families and individuals at the sites are receiving case management and essential services that support their stability and wellbeing.
Funding has also supported vital infrastructure such as RV repairs, registration, translation services, towing, and site safety improvements.
This program demonstrates what is possible when public and private partners come together. On behalf of the Foundation, the City of Kirkland, and the households served, we thank Amazon for investing in solutions that create pathways out of homelessness.
